I’m Finn Aroha.

I’m passionate about making and supporting small makers.

In 2019, I started to read up & practice the art of candle making from my shared flat kitchen.

I wanted to create a candle refillery with unique ceramic candles that people could cherish for longer & help remove some wasteful candle habits.

Over the years learning & establishing this space; I’ve had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with many planet earth friendly makers & small businesses. It is our collective passion that fills the space you are in right now.

Everything has been passed through the hands of a maker who loves what they do.

The finnie space would not be the same without the mahi of the insanely talented Pōneke based photographer Lis Leathart | Lis has a unique eye for finding natural beauty & light in every essence of her photography.

Waxes

We use natural soy wax for our candles, sourced from Ākarana|Auckland. We also have natural botanical & coconut waxes available. Contact Finn for a custom candle.

Flowers

We source dried flowers foraging - as well as from Aotearoa based florists. All naturally dried. Every candle has a beautiful floral display - watch the flowers float in in a warmth bath of wax as it melts down.

Wicks

Recycled cotton wicks, sourced from Ākarana|Auckland.

Ceramics

As well as having a few collaborations with local potters - we love collecting second hand pottery and checking out South Coast art stores for handmade pieces. Matamata based Larissa from Goodwin Ceramics creates limited edition pieces for us, keep an eye out. Each is guaranteed to be completely unique.

Scents

We source our Essential Oils from Wellington Apothecary & Kereru. On occasion we will release limited edition natural fragrances sourced from Pure Nature.
